Metadata

Metadata – from chaos to order in the assets
It may sound technical and boring, but metadata is the key to efficient and seamless workflow. We explain why you, who work with communication and images, should be aware of the enormous potential that lies in good metadata.

Metadata is everything the eye cannot see in an asset, such as keywords and descriptive texts. The metadata makes your files searchable - so you can easily find them again. NTB's media bank can help you save and find images, videos and graphics.

This is how metadata makes it easy to work with images

  • Makes assets searchable

  • Streamlines the internal collaboration on assets

  • Can be created automatically with Nordic AI functionality

In the image world, good use of metadata is a matter of course. In NTB's image portal, several million of the images are searchable - thanks to metadata.

How can you use the metadata?

Web browsers are unable to read the subject in an asset, but they are able to read the text that says something about the subject, i.e. the metadata.

All assets contain technical information that says something about the file. This can be, among other things, the file size and the time when the picture was taken. Most assets contain this technical metadata. But with the media bank, it is easy to add more, custom metadata, such as title, image description, keywords and much more. To save time, you can add text and keywords to large amounts of assets at the same time.

The Mediebank simplifies working with assets

When you work with assets and metadata in the media bank, it is easy to collaborate on assets internally within the company. Instead of the asset being stored on each person's computers, you can upload the assets to the media bank - and download them when you need them.

In this way, you have all your assets gathered in one place and by using the information contained in the assets, the metadata, it is easy to systematize the assets so that they are searchable and accessible. Some metadata must be tagged and systematized manually, while other tasks are solved with artificial intelligence.

We know the importance of images and videos being systematized so that they are searchable. In the image portal there are close to 400 million media files - then it is important to use the metadata as best as possible.
This is knowledge we take with us in the development of the media bank. We happily share our experience-based advice with customers.
