GDPR-module and verification

Images and GDPR - are you handling images correctly?

The difference between GDPR and the intellectual property act:

  • The GDPR legislation requires consent to store personal data.

  • Section 104 of the Copyright Act deals with using and publishing images of people.

Comply with GDPR legislation. In photos and videos where there are people, GDPR approval is required from the person pictured in the same way as with other personal data. Our media bank can be the solution for handling consent and having an overview of usage rights.

Pictures and videos of people fall under the category of personal data. Personal data are characteristics that can identify a person. All companies that store personal data must follow the regulations on obtaining, storing and deleting consent to store the data.

How to handle consent from employees and other people?

If you store images of employees or other people, you must obtain consent to store the images. This applies to all types of photos: illustration photos, press photos, employee photos, etc.

Handling consent for storage is a useful function in the media bank and it is easy to ask for consent, give consent, withdraw consent and have access to consent: You can ask the pictured person for consent by sending an email request directly from the media bank. You can also write and adapt the conditions for image use as needed. In the terms and conditions, you can, for example, include image use in accordance with section 104 of the Copyright Act.

With a few keystrokes, the person depicted can see the image, read the terms and approve or reject the consent request.

Inside the media bank, you can see which images you have consented to store, and the usage rights for the images - provided that this is part of your terms.

Obtain consent even easier: Use the GDPR module in conjunction with AI.

AI helps you to obtain consent effectively

There is also an even simpler way to obtain consent: Use AI, the media bank's artificial intelligence, in conjunction with the GDPR module. If you have several photos of the same face, the artificial intelligence can recognize the facial features and understand that it is the same person. The images are collected and can be sent directly to the person pictured for approval.
