Import

Import

Transfer types

Depending on your needs, you can transfer assets daily or your entire archive in one go. There are two main types of transfers:

1. Archive transfer: If you need to move your entire archive simultaneously:

  • Upload all assets and their associated metadata files to the designated S3 bucket.

  • Once the upload is complete, notify our team.

  • Important: NTB staff need to be notified as the processor needs to be turned on for this bucket.

  • We will then import the assets into our system.

2. Daily transfer: For regular, ongoing transfers:

  • Upload one or more assets along with their metadata files to a separate S3 bucket.

  • This bucket is different from the one used for transferring archives.

  • Our system will continuously monitor for new assets.

  • Assets will be automatically imported into our system as soon as possible, without the need for manual intervention.

Remember: The S3 buckets for archive transfers and daily transfers are separate, ensuring smooth operations for both types of transfers.

Transfer strategies

We support two strategies for asset transfer, individual and zip.

Publications

The import process for publications differs based on whether the publication already exists in our system or if it's a new publication.

Import of already existing publications

  • Automatic process: For publications that already exist in our system, the import process is automatic.

  • The system recognizes these publications and processes them without the need for manual intervention.

Import of new publications

  • Manual process: For new publications that are not yet in our system, the import process requires manual handling.

  • NTB staff will need to manually configure these new publications in the system before they can be imported.

This approach ensures that existing publications are handled efficiently, while new publications receive the necessary attention to set them up correctly in our system.
